This was for a free project in Art class. We were allowed to draw whatever we wanted, so natually I choose a mermaid, obsessed as I am XD
At first I was going to illustate an encounter between a deep sea sub and a mermaid, but it kinda fell through, so I came up with this one. My art teacher was enthralled with the "no human skin" approach for the mermaid and I tried to get away from my anime style, but I think it showed up in the hair. >.< I don't have much to say about it other than it took forever, it's all prisma colored pencil, and the original was freakishly huge. After a few failed attempts to take a picture of it, I gave in and scanned it in pieces. Putting it back together was an absolute terror x_x. There's still a couple places where edges show, but given the circumstances, it came out ok. The dolphin species is the Pacific Whitesided just 'cuase that happened to be the only reference phto I'd had with me at the time.
I'm really glad with how it turned out though. My scanner did it no justice whatsoever
